Friends Come to Jacques’s Aid
A crocodile disappears, a neighbouring country seeks a ruler, and friendship becomes the beginning of peace.
The Mystery in the Eastern Lands
To the east of Lesogoria lies Sauria, a country of lizards and ancient legends. Its inhabitants face a crisis over who should rule them. Dante, a cunning local figure, believes that an ancient Fire Dragon on the Green Volcano can identify a worthy leader. To arrange the trial, he needs Jacques — the kind crocodile who lives in Lesogoria and has become a beloved friend of its animals.
Jacques disappears from his lake under disturbing circumstances. Rumours immediately spread among those who once feared him, but Rozerna and his real friends refuse to believe that he has turned dangerous. The Silver Eagle realises that action is needed. The tracker Vito and the falcon Miron investigate Sauria and discover that the disappearance is linked to the neighbouring country's plans.
Two Missions, One World
As the search for Jacques develops, another young resident is undertaking an adventure of his own. Wutty, Aunt Musya's young fox, travels across the different territories of Lesogoria on a demanding mission connected with a valuable medicinal plant, Spider Mint. His path takes him through the Red Jungle, encounters with unfamiliar inhabitants and moments when fear nearly defeats him.
Wutty's travels are not a diversion from the larger story. They show another side of the same society: a country where knowledge and healing matter as much as force, and where those who seem too young or inexperienced to help may prove capable of extraordinary things. The fairy Aria and the friends he meets help him find the courage to complete his task and return.
A Rescue Beyond the Border
Meanwhile the Silver Eagle, Vito, Miron and their allies unravel Dante's plans. A second attempt to enter Lesogoria fails, and Dante is captured. What they learn leads them towards the Great Swamp, where Jacques has been kept. Their aim is to bring him home, but the crocodile's response surprises everyone.
Jacques learns that the people of Sauria fear being left without a ruler. Although the scheme that brought him there was dishonest, he refuses to treat every inhabitant of the neighbouring country as an enemy. The crocodile is willing to help them. The Silver Eagle supports him, giving a feather needed for the Dragon's test, while Jacques contributes one of his own teeth.
The Dragon’s Decision
Jacques climbs the Green Volcano and offers the tokens to the Fire Dragon. Flames rise, the mountain roars, and the ancient being appears. Instead of retreating, Jacques looks the Dragon in the eye and explains why Sauria needs help. His compassion and courage satisfy the test. The Dragon names him the worthy ruler of Sauria and gives him a ring that will make his authority recognised.
The story closes not with revenge against the inhabitants of Sauria, but with reconciliation. Jacques accepts the responsibility of leadership, and the Silver Eagle offers friendship and support to the neighbouring country. Wutty returns from his adventure with something valuable for the health of Lesogoria. What began with a disappearance ends with the promise of good relations across a border — and the conviction that kindness is a stronger foundation for leadership than fear.
