How Philips the Kitten Became a Pathfinder

Mikhail Samarsky

A spell goes wrong. To see his friends again, Philips must cross unfamiliar lands and discover his own resourcefulness.

The Journey Goes Wrong

After his first visit to Lesogoria, Philips cannot stop thinking about his friends. He keeps the Sun Flower — the magical gift that allows travel between worlds — carefully hidden beneath a cherry tree. At last he speaks the words that should take him back to the familiar forests. But the magic sends him somewhere entirely different: a vast, strange desert called Mirage, far from Rozerna, Veron and Bul.

Alone and uncertain, the kitten encounters inhabitants unlike any he has met before. He learns that Lesogoria is not one little woodland but a world of distinct lands, each with its own creatures, customs and dangers. The royal cobra Argo listens to his story, recognises that he is no enemy and helps him understand the long route he must take. Philips learns an essential lesson before the journey has properly begun: courage does not mean knowing every answer; it means making the first step despite uncertainty.

Across the Different Lands

The experienced tracker Vito becomes Philips's guide. Together they set out across the Great Water, the land of spiders, the territory of Arctur and the extraordinary Red Jungle. Each new landscape challenges what the sheltered house kitten thinks he knows. Huge spiders turn out to have their own habits and peaceful routines; unfamiliar inhabitants offer unexpected hospitality; narrow paths, long walks and water crossings require determination.

In the Red Jungle they meet the lively lemur Paolo and his friends. Entertainment, friendship and wonder coexist with a genuine problem: the Sun Flower has been damaged, threatening Philips's ability to return home. The little fairy Aria offers the hope of putting things right. Along the way, conversations about memory, dreams and the importance of living in the present make the journey about more than geography.

An Explorer Learns to Trust

Philips sees extraordinary places and meets inhabitants ranging from the towering giraffe Julien to creatures of the sea. He crosses water with the help of dolphins and learns to accept assistance without surrendering his own initiative. His original goal remains simple — reaching his friends — but the road teaches him patience, observation and how to make decisions when a trusted guide cannot do everything for him.

Near the end of the journey, fresh danger appears when green monkeys carry him off. Philips survives this alarming interruption and finds his bearings again with the help of new acquaintances, including a small mouse named Vesuvius. Eventually he reaches the forest and is welcomed by the friends who have worried about him.

The Pathfinder Returns

Rozerna, Veron, Bul and the others celebrate Philips's return. Their joy is especially strong after news of the kidnapping has spread through Lesogoria. He visits Jacques, the crocodile whose life he changed during his earlier stay, and sees how friendship has permanently transformed the once-feared lake.

The wise residents recognise what Philips has achieved. His perseverance, thoughtfulness and willingness to listen have carried him farther than he imagined possible. He has not become a pathfinder because someone gave him a title: he has learned how to find a way forward, even in unfamiliar territory. At the end, the kitten can return to his own home with new confidence — and with an even stronger bond to Lesogoria.
